So first off, no the MTG Nationals didn't go very well, not very well at all... After no playtesting and picking up a random deck I ended up as number 122 of 138, so... yeah...

Any-who. I'll be starting my 3rd semester of my math degree in a couple of days. So that's is going to be fun... However, doing the last couple of semester project I've been working with a project group that has worked very well and done very well, as well... But this semester the number of groups seem to be increasing from 3 to 4, which means the groups are going to be cut quiet a bit, which unfortunately in my current group means that I will be cut as the first. Not because of my skill, or my lack of bringing something to the table. Not at all in fact. Those are the things I do well, very well. But I have a terrible problem with sleep, which does that I am rarely getting up at the time of day most people are, and so, I have missed quiet a lot of the meeting schedule the last couple of projects. And so my group will be cutting me as the first from the group understandably. However a part of my really, really hopes that they will come to me for help, which I feel is a need I have filled more than just a few times in the last couple of semesters, and I'll just say; "no".

Most of this is probably because I am a bit mad about this, and a little drunk. But I'm not really mad at my old group as much as I am mad at myself. I know the problem is there, I have really tried to do something about it, but it just hasn't helped. Okay, I'm also a bit mad at them, because I have been thinking all summer that I had a group that wanted to work with me. But now, three days before we start, I know that there is none.

Yet another beginning

Hi there.

Seeing as it has been nearly a year since I last wrote here I might as well start fresh.
I am currently studying math at Aalborg University, where I finish my second semester at the end of June. A few weeks prior to that, after living for nearly two years as what best can be described as a nomad, I finally got a permanent place to live! A large one-room apartment with kitchen and everything!

I still play Magic the Gathering, and actually qualified for the Danish Nationals again this year (this time it only took one try though). The deck i qualified with can be seen below:

Today has been part of TROA's (www.troa.dk) second 'Magic Weekend'. So I showed up for the legacy event (only 18 players) where I went 3-2 in the Swiss and just made it into top 8 with a borrowed High Tide deck. But then I was knocked out in the quarterfinals by the same person I lost to in the first round of the Swiss. So quickly onto the Magic 2012 release event, going 4-1 in Swiss tournament (with a sealed pool able to construct both a RB-aggro deck as well as a GU-control deck splashing fireball, so I did). I got a forth place largely credited my ability to start off with aggro and when that didn't work, sideboard to a completely different deck. The day ended with a casual 8-man Magic 2012 draft, where after ending up with a RG beatdown deck, that had a curve starting at 4, lost the first round and then won the following two, getting a third place finish. All in all a good day for Magic :) oh, and I opened a Jace, the Memory Adept in my sealed pool for the release :)

Hope I get better at posting something here more regularly. But for now, some music.

Something something something blogpost

Well, it's been two weeks since my last update, and even though I have a lot of interesting things to write, I lack the motivation. So anyway, here is a post just to make sure that I do post something, and to tell people that they can expect a large update shortly.

Let this be a preview, and a reminder for myself, here a some of the things I will be including in my following post:

Trying to keep up!

Hi there.

Trying to keep up with the 1-2 posts a week isn't as easy as I thought, mainly because I keep forgetting about the blog all together. Anyway, since my last post not much has really happened, not that there is going to happen that much in the future weeks either but still.

For those of who do not know I work temp jobs at the moment, which means that sometimes there is some work and at other times there is none, never more than that. But since my last post I have been working 12 hours divided in 3 days of 4 hours, not really a lot of work, but seeing that I am trying to save up for a deposit on an apartment every bit helps. Especially after 4 weeks in the US which is not that cheap.

Besides from work I have been in Ulsted for a day (and yes that is a small place you probably do not know where is), visiting a friend and playing some good old casual Magic (the Gathering) and watching a couple of films, "Drag me to Hell" and "Sherlock Holmes". Both films actually surpassed my expectations.
"Drag me to Hell" delivered every bit of both Sam Raimi's humour and horror, in a way where every fan of the "Evil Dead"-trilogy would not be disappointed, which was actually what I expected to be. But Sam Raimi still got it, and I for one am probably going to watch again, at least ones.
"Sherlock Holmes", the new one for those in doubt, is one of those films where the trailer, at least in my point of view, was not even close to capturing the essence of the film, and already 5 minutes in I was aware of that. Overall the new version of Sherlock Holmes (the character) works better than I expected. What I feared after watching the trailer was too much of an action hero, but I was happily surprised. So if you are wandering whether you should watch this film, you should, I highly recommend it.

Getting back from USA

Hi there. So my current real life situation is that I recently (January 15th) got home from 4 weeks in the US, which was awesome!, except that their food sucks, except for their Mexican food which is actual Mexican food compared to what you get here in Denmark.

Anyway, when I got back I had to move out of "my" apartment, since it wasn't really "my" apartment but my brother's, and back in with my parents, which despite the free food and magical laundry basket pretty much sucks. Especially seeing it that I have to travel back and forth for both work as well as all the nerdy stuff I do in Aalborg (which I now live 30-35 minutes away from) 3 nights a week. *sigh* Therefore I am trying as much as possible to crash on people's couches in Aalborg when I have to get to work the next morning after a fine evening of Pen'n'Paper RPG or Magic the Gathering FNM or draft.

Well, I've got a plane to catch, a dinner to buy, and a draft to win.

So this whole idea about this blog being something new and somewhat interesting is not going to happen. So instead I will start posting random things here about something that happens in my life or just some randomness. Just to get the ball rolling, no, I still have no idea what this site should be all about. I recently considered the classic "Here's my life!", but that is not really me. Though I love to disguss strange things, I do not think that my thougths are for the whole world to hear. What it comes down to is that I do not think that I would be able to filter myself from saying inner things that sould not have been said, and when things should not be said that also means that the whole world should not hear them. So why am I writing here now if I still have no idea what I want to write about? Well, first of all I was bored, second of all why not have a blog that starts at the beginning of it self and has its own life? So I guess that is what I am going for with this. A thing with a life of its own.
We all know that thing when people say, "Just say/write the first thing that comes to mind.", so maybe I will try that now. My first thougth being "This post is short, I am not just trying to fill in some more nothingness?", making my second thougth "Well, that is the whole point of this blog". And I guess that was it for now...

Here we go. A blog. But what then? What should I write? I just felt that I had to write something. Try to get some flow in the blog, do something to actually make it a blog. So here I am writing nothing, but typing words. Structuring sentences, but without a point.
Or is it really without a point? Maybe I just need to write nothing, to say nothing, and to do nothing, to know what something is. It is as they say about films; "you have to see a lot of crap to truly know what's great.", yet I must admit I have never followed that myself. Maybe I should do that, and write about my experience with that on my blog.
But, wait, that would be just another video reviewing blog, that is not what I want. What I want is to write something that gives this blog somewhat the same personality as my own. But that of cause asks the question, "what personality do I have?". I really have no idea. So for now I'm just gonna write what I feel like, or when I feel like, and post that. When it all comes down to it, I am not even sure this is going to be read anyway, so why not?
So I guess this is my blog.
